Welcome to the Celebrating Diversity Hub :) This is a collection of all the articles that have been posted under this theme.
We live in a world full of diversity, every day in real life and every day on dA. And it happens so often that a work of art is "slashed" simply because it is different than others. Because someone sees it and doesn't understand it and doesn't take the time to think about it.
People who react like that to art, follow the same thought process, that so many many people follow when it comes to Racism, Sexism, Homophobia: "This is different to me, therefore it must be wrong." You may wonder if that comparison may not be t

And I'll find strength in pain...
[Title comes from the song 'The Cave' by Mumford & Sons.]
i. This week has been an incredibly long week. From Monday to Thursday I had my classes at the university, and in between them, studying and beginning assignments. On Wednesday I had the Oxfam Society meeting (I have also come to the realisation that some of you don't know what that is, but basically Oxfam is about fair trade and helping others). Friday and Saturday I worked at the Red Cross, and today, on a tremendously hot Sunday, I'm working on my Aboriginal Studies assignment and trying not to confuse myself on my Philosophy one. Tomorrow is a public holiday, so I'm spending the d

SoundlessWhispers Feature (#1)
This poet will offer you the taste of words--the essence of passion. SoundlessWhispers (https://www.deviantart.com/soundlesswhispers) possess a deep, rooted adoration for the written word that almost rivals her sheer love of art. She's an unappreciated poet with a mind wide open to the darker sides of humanity; she sleeps and stirs and breathes in her true passion of creation.
Her gallery is full of concepts which breathe originality and delicious imagery, and her macabre poetry will surely leave you with shivers and shudders. She is open to experimentation, and she is very supporting of other artists and their work. If I were to name off two distinct aspects to her writing, I would
Meet the wonderful Frania (aka scorpiandoll (https://www.deviantart.com/scorpiandoll)). Frania is a kind, compassionate photographer, who enjoys getting to know people through their art and through their words. I've seen many excellent photographers, and there is just something about Frania's work; it is a breath of refreshing air. She breathes herself into her work, and I am always astounded by how much of herself she can leave in a photograph. It is inspiring and admirable!
So many concepts and ideas rest within her lovely gallery, and each one possesses its own unique trait. She is a firm believer that art comes in many forms, and she often assures me (when I become unsure)

THE WAR STORY CONTEST WINNERS FEATURE
FIRST PLACE >>> :thumb341491019: by tuomaskoivurinne (https://www.deviantart.com/tuomaskoivurinne)
(In the words of the judges, doughboycafe (https://www.deviantart.com/doughboycafe) and/or CJWilde (https://www.deviantart.com/cjwilde))
Why it won: Absolute realism, in both military structure, behavior, and in war itself. I saw these kids clearly in my mind's eye marching to war. Also, clear wording, no bones made about the war, could have been the set up for a novel.
Best Line:
It was their first day and they hadn't even reached their Company yet. They were fresh. Still in their boyhood. The 2nd Company had been mauled pretty badly. More men were needed.

:pumpkin: The Transcript by Tanton (https://www.deviantart.com/tanton)
The night is silent and dark. Heart beating furiously, a man plays back a tape; releasing the carefree voices of the past into the night like so many ghosts.
Using very minimalist story-telling techniques, Tanton (https://www.deviantart.com/tanton)'s short piece manages to create a surprising amount of suspense and atmosphere. The perfect foil for a dark October evening - just don't read before heading out for a walk on your own.
